Welcome to Indie Hackers! (Week of Jan 23rd)

Channing here from Indie Hackers. Welcome! 👋

Here's how to get the most out your time here.

Make the community a better place

Indie Hackers is for connecting with like-minded people who want to build profitable online businesses.

To get the most out of the community, try helping to make it a better place. You can do that by starting and participating in interesting discussions.

If you start by giving, the community is designed to reward you in return.

How to start discussions

Head over to the home page and click the "New Post" button.

If there's something on your mind that you think will get people talking, simply type it out. The shorter the better. It helps if you ask a clear question in the title, or if you express your opinion.

Alternatively, if you read something elsewhere on the internet, you can start a discussion around that, too. Try submitting it as a link post. Indie hackers love discovering interesting new articles.

Good luck!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you need help submitting your first link post or starting your first discussion, let me know in the comments below.

Otherwise, I'm excited to see you the forum! Feel free to introduce yourself to everyone below. 🤗

    Hey all! 👋🏽

My name is Antonio. I've been working as a full-stack software engineer for the past 7-8 years. I'm currently taking a mini-sabbatical and exploring ways to leverage my skills to build impactful products, and potentially generate a few extra streams of income.

I've been reading Indie Hackers from afar for the past couple of years, so I'm happy to have finally joined today. Looking forward to interacting with you all and adding value to the community!

Hey Antonio! Welcome to the community! I'm Elizabeth, Founder of FLIP App. I'm looking to bring on a technical co-founder to help expand my project from where it sits now. Would you be interested in chatting about it?

      1. 1

Hi Elizabeth, welcome to the community as well!

I don't think there is a private message feature on Indie Hackers (or at least, I haven't been able to find any), so feel free to reach out on Twitter. I can't promise anything, but happy to chat about your project!

Hello everyone, I'm Joe. I am exploring ideas for online business in the education and edtech sector. I currently create educational content in computer science for an online university. I'm also interested in the tools for thought space, homesteading and community agriculture, and 'governance futurism'. Excited to get to know everyone, contribute, and learn.

    Hey !

My name is Anastasia. I'm the founder of Oops Finance. We are building a stack of financial tools to help young people not f*ck up their financial future.

Our first product just got approved by the AppStore! Oops 🤭 is an app that makes personal finance insanely simple.

Hi everyone! My name is Brendon and I'm a social entrepreneur based in the SF Bay Area.

I'm currently working on societal transformation as the COO of Roote, a nonprofit educational hub and startup studio. I'm trying to find a founding developer that will help build Tweetscape, an app we've secured funding for that will help people access high quality information online and avoid issues like addiction and polarization, starting with Twitter!

I'm also working on evidence-based self/life improvement as the founder of Better. We're trying to research and publish a freely accessible resource to help people discover the most effective ways they can improve different areas of life, as well as spin up products and services (like Sleek, an upcoming SAAS email app) to address ummet needs uncovered by our research.

I also run Antigravity Investments, a small investment firm for charities and people interested in evidence-based investing with ~20k annual revenue.

Happy to share thoughts on people's ideas, projects, and plans!

New to Indie Hackers so any help getting started posting would be appreciated as mentioned in the post.

Hi, first of all thank you Channing that Indie Hackers exists ❤️ Been following for some years and read different inspiring posts about other Indie Hackers. It gave me always new motivation to not give up on bootstrapping something by myself.

Here is my story and introduction:

I'm Ronny, I've quit my safe job as Software Developer and Scrum Master in march of 2021, because I needed a change and also because I have some savings which allowed me to not needed to be employed for around 2 years or more. Since then I enjoyed the freedom, but it was also not easy because I had no real next goal (and you all know corona made the situation not easier), so I just went with the flow until the end of the year, just letting go of all, trying to find a next goal (working for a company where money isn't the main motivator or doing something on my own?...), on the way I learned that music is also very important to me (DJing, in the future producing, just as a hobby). But at the end of 2021 I just realised that I won't have the chance again to have this freedom, being completely independent, not needing to think of money (at least for some time), not needing to work for someone else, so a friend (Sonny) and me started together a challenge to have a big goal and also monthly commitments for this goal.

The goal is to become independent, create a product, a SaaS product or any product which can generate income, a web app, a native app, an extension, whatever, just something that we can create with our own skills. As some of you know, Peter Levels started in 2014 the 12 Startups in 12 Months Challenge and was successful, also others like Yongfook, both are big inspirations. Sure a lot of indie hackers failed also and you have to keep "survivorship bias" in mind, but I would regret not trying a challenge like that.

So the challenge we've created is called 24 Startups in 24 Months and we started on January 1st 2022. You can find the introduction post here. It's basically the 12 Startups in 12 Months challenge, but just extended to 24 months. One reason is, because nobody else before started this 24 startups challenge so far as individuals, so also we maybe have free marketing because of this, another reason is to develop the habit of finishing and launching (like levels.io mentioned in the original 12 startups post). If you want to know more, you can read the Introduction post linked above.

I also want to engage more now here in this community to motivate also others, publishing own posts regarding our progress, getting feedback. If you want to follow our story, I'm happy to connect with you all. Maybe we can motivate also some to start a challenge like that, we are also thinking about featuring indie hackers via our page or support with somekind of investment in others like we do right now with ourselves (but this will probably happen after the 24 Startups challenge).

So in less than one week we will publish two blogposts about the startups of the first month from each of us. Which will be RemoteJobForMe.com and pingnow.io (both still in progress)

Right now our main challenge is to make the challenge more public, so more and more people which are interested in our outcome can follow our progress and are aware that it exists. Maybe someone of you has advice regarding this?

If at least 10 users are interested I will also create a group here on Indie Hackers for that challenge. Just reply in the comments regarding this 🙂

Links regarding the 24 Startups in 24 Months Challenge:

You can also connect with us if you have further questions or want to give feedback:

    Sonny

    Ronny

Also happy to answer any questions via the comments.

All the best to you all 🚀

Hey everyone! I'm happy to be here and can't wait to explore. I'm deeming 2022 as the 'Year of Independence'. My goals include:

    • Launch 1 paid product Q1
    • Launch 3-7 revenue streams all year
    • 10-25k MRR by EOY
    • Make friends with 3 entrepreneurs

I started this morning, so it seems like a fitting day to join indie hackers. I'll share all my progress here, follow along for updates, and get in touch if you see anything interesting!

    Hey everyone!

I'm Fawzi and I'm creating a weekly comic series about our life in the near future called Year 2049. The series isn't pure sci-fi but rather a way to inform and talk about all the interesting and nascent discoveries and inventions from today and imagine their impact in the context of every day life.

My goal isn't to make predictions but rather create a shared understanding of the problems we have today and introduce the world to the innovative startups, founders, scientists, or anyone else trying to create a better future for all of us.

If you like comics and you love geeking out on important events, discoveries, and inventions shaping the future, then you're exactly the type of person that would enjoy reading my weekly comic newsletter. Check it out at: https://year2049.substack.com/

If you have any feedback about the format, I would love to hear it!

Really excited to be part of this community and potentially meet some awesome founders who will feature in one of my comics

Hi everyone, I'm Stefan and I work as an e-commerce growth consultant remotely from Sweden. I have about 5 years experience with e-commerce, both running my own multi-brand stores and single-brand stores as well as consulting and helping other e-commerce businesses (B2B and B2C) succeed with their overall marketing strategies, email marketing, paid social marketing (FB/IG/TikTok ads), website development & optimization, data analysis, copywriting etc.

Previous to that, I was a full-time DJ for about 9 years until the current world situation set in. My passion for music is something that is very dear to me and I'm currently looking for ways to merge e-commerce and music into one value-packed, worldwide love rocket.

    Hi everyone!
I'm Pavlo. Currently, I am on a journey of building a no-code platform for websites and web apps. I worked on Skivvr solo for the last three months, and in a few weeks, I'm going to release a beta 🚀
I build it in public on Twitter.

I made a lot of UI-rich web apps and websites, and I'm always looking for new challenges to solve. Working on a no-code platform has been a colossal experience booster in programming, product development, and business.

I look forward to meeting like-minded individuals passionate about SaaS, no-code, and building in public 🙂

    Hey all,

My name is Ioannis. I'm a software engineer for the past 10+ years. I'm currently, taking some time off to explore and sharpen skills by working on side projects (in a normal pace). For now I have only one small side project (krok.link) which has a few non-paying customers, looking forward to increase that :)

I heard about Indie Hackers recently in a podcast and I'm happy that I joined the community. Looking forward to interact with everyone, share experiences and give back to the community!

    Hi!

I'm Horus, a Full Stack Engineer currently working as a Senior Frontend Engineer at a startup.

I've been iterating on my ideas for way too long on my own, and I thought joining this community could be a great start to learn more about building great things as an indie.

Right now, I'm working on a product to help small video content creators add animations to their videos. Since I'm a video creator myself, I thought it would be a good idea to put there the animations I build for my videos. Here's the unfinished landing page, and for now, all animations are available in the free plan with limited usage: alphatrack.xyz.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

I'm Malik, CEO and Co-founder of Nitetoast, a startup aimed at ushering in the 4-day workweek. We are looking to put the power of time back in the hands of the employee who needs to get rid of pointless meetings and focus on deep work; improving productivity for companies with fewer hours and improved sentiments.

Me and my co-founder are looking for a dynamic full-stack developer that is looking to dive into this adventure with us and make this idea a profitable reality. Please contact me if you think you fit the description and are interested in learning more on how we can team together to bring this vision to life.

    Hi everyone,
My name is Andrei. Although I just signed up here, I've been around the indie hackers community for a few years, being inspired by Pieter Levels' success.

I have a full-time job as an infrastructure engineer and I recently launched WeCleanWP - Say goodbye to slow or hacked WordPress websites, a service aiming to get rid of any security of performance bottlenecks a WordPress website or webserver may have. I set myself apart from competitors by actually knowing what I do and doing it right.

I am looking forward to connecting with wise people with whom I can share ideas experiences. Also, please get in touch with me if you need my professional help or any advice for your web infrastructure. PS: I don't get scared easily.

I'm delighted to be a member of the Indie Hackers community.

My name is Lourdes Paul Agilan, and I am the CEO and founder of Affluent Words (Copywriting agency for SaaS companies.)

My story is simple. When I was pursuing engineering, I founded my first software company five years ago. My startup, like many others, failed utterly. That's when I realized how critical marketing and sales are for a business.

Then I spent a year learning all I could about marketing and sales. And within a few months, I was writing sales copies.

Now with my team, I help SaaS companies boost their revenue with direct response copywriting

    Hello!
I am Tarun Tyagi. I have been working upon an idea of working with startups by building their technology on Cash+Equity basis. The idea is to help them in building their high-end tech digital product in much lesser cost. We have been working with two startups based in Silicon Valley. They lost lot of money with big IT outsourcing companies prior us taking over the development. We are deployed here https://www.xaigi.tech

Now we have not only delivered the product but also we are looking forward to drive their product promotion going forward. I believe this is a good business but I would request people here to share their feedback. I would love to know about our idea. Thanks

Hi... I am Aishwarya, the Founder of Leatheist.
We make bio-based leather from agricultural residue. Production of animal leather and artificial leather causes several issues like animal cruelty, use of harmful tanning chemicals, toxic effluent waste, water pollution, water-intense processes, to name a few. With Leatheist, we hope to solve these problems.

I am glad to be here :)

Anyway, I wish u success on it, is a great project!

Before Oidom I made my first exit with a small hosting company. With many years of hosting experience with WordPress sites, and seeing the things that people struggle with, we have made a tool that mitigates those problems. We use Gatsby to generate the final sites so the final sites are always fast and secure.

I'm looking forward to receiving feedback.

hi guyz . I've been functioning as a full-stack computer programmer for the beyond 7-8 years. I'm right now taking a scaled down vacation and investigating ways of utilizing my abilities to assemble significant items, and conceivably create a couple of additional surges of pay.

I've been perusing Indie Hackers from far off for the recent years, so I'm glad to have at long last joined today. Anticipating connecting with all of you and increasing the value of the local area!

My name is Roger. I am a developer and like working on side projects when I have spare time. I thought to ask around if any of my projects might be useful to others. I most recently worked on a simple search website that provides LinkedIn and website info for about 3 million companies. Was wondering if that is useful. Thanks.

I'm Nuno, I'm a performance marketing manager at Infraspeak a B2B SaaS company based in Portugal. My background comes from Civil Engineering but was the marketing and advertising world that makes me fall in love.

I already launched some projects, from E-commerce Stores to personal blogs where I sold advertising space, but none of them had success, at that time I was just developing something to get some extra money and also to learn and implement things that I was learning about.

Nowadays I still have that dream to build something!
